FROM ST. FABIAN SCHOOL
HELP THE GIRLS IN CHELEKURA
On Feb. 15, 2012, we were invited to speak to Brownie Troop 75235 and share our story about the students who attend John Paul School in Chelekura, Uganda. These Brownies are in the second grade and are very interested in learning all about how the children live and learn in a country so far away from us. They listened very intently as I told them how far the children have to walk to school each day and that they don't have any water or electricity. They asked many excellent questions and were very eager to learn how they could help.
We brought "Little Dresses for Africa" with us and told them about Rachel O'Neill, the lady that started this wonderful program by making the dresses out of pillowcases. The dresses are then distributed to the girls in Africa who never had a new dress!
Each Brownie was able to select a "Little Dress" and write a personal note to a little girl and then place the note in the pocket of that dress. When we deliver the "Little Dresses", the girls in Chelekura will know that a Brownie from St Fabian School is thinking and praying for them. They will know that they are special and loved by God and the entire Brownie Troop in Michigan.
Much to our surprise, the Brownies and their parents took up a donation and raised enough money so that the tuition can be paid for three children to attend school for an entire year!!
What a beautiful gift!!
We thank all the Brownies, their Leader and their parents for their interest and support. Please continue to keep the students at John Paul School in your prayers.
God Bless each of you!
